Finding sessions
The session list shows the newest sessions first. Combine filters to find the one a customer or a bug report is about.
Filters
| Filter | Finds sessions |
|---|---|
| User | With this exact user ID, set through identify or data-user-id |
| Page | That visited a matching page, see below |
| Date range | That started in this range |
| Duration | Longer or shorter than a number of seconds |
| Pages viewed | With at least this many page views |
| Errors | With at least one console error or uncaught exception |
| Rage clicks | Where the visitor clicked the same spot repeatedly |
| Device | On desktop, mobile or tablet |
All filters are combined. The dashboard keeps them in the address bar, so you can bookmark a search or send it to a colleague.
Matching pages
Every page view in a session is checked, not just the first. A session appears once however many of its pages match.
/checkoutmatches that path on any host.shop.com/checkout,//shop.com/checkoutandhttps://shop.com/checkoutmatch that host and path.- A bare word like
checkoutis treated as the path/checkout. - Query strings and fragments in what you type are ignored.
There are three modes. Starts with (the default) and Exact use indexes and stay fast on large data. Contains matches anywhere in the path; it scans page views, so it is slower on large data and, on D1, is billed by rows read.
In the replay
The timeline marks clicks in amber, rage clicks as red dots, typing as purple dots, errors as red diamonds and page changes as purple lines. Stretches of three seconds or more without activity are hatched and skipped in about a second.
