Moving off Highlight.io
highlight.io and its pricing page now redirect to launchdarkly.com. The open source repository is still being updated. If you self-host Highlight for session replay, here is what we know and what you can move to.
Facts about other products on this page were last checked against their own websites on . Prices and limits change; follow the source links before you decide.
What changed
- Both
highlight.ioandhighlight.io/pricingland on the LaunchDarkly home page. - A commit in the
highlight/highlightrepository on 20 August 2026 is titled “redirect landing page to launchdarkly.com”. - The repository is not archived; its last commit we saw was on 1 October 2026.
- The repository is Apache-2.0 by default, with some folders under separate licenses.
We do not know LaunchDarkly’s plans for the self-hosted version beyond what is public. If you rely on it, check the repository and LaunchDarkly’s announcements directly.
If you self-host Highlight for session replay
Your current deployment keeps working as long as you run it. The questions are upgrades, security fixes and documentation once the website is gone. If you want to move:
- Error monitoring and logs as well as replay: look at tools that combine them. PostHog and OpenReplay both cover more than replay.
- Session replay on your own infrastructure, and nothing else: Replayowl. One Cloudflare Worker or Node process, recordings in your bucket, console errors recorded alongside the session.
Replayowl does not import Highlight recordings. Run both side by side until your Highlight retention runs out.
